Aulas has often denied transfers before that have happened, and no doubt #CFC have been pushing this week. But it's going to take a big fee, and buy in from Textor, in order to complete a deal.

Final details then… here we go soon. pic.twitter.com/Ht3TBaT2tC
🚨 Chelsea have reached an agreement in principle with Lyon to sign right-back Malo Gusto for €30m + add-ons. 19yo France U21 int’l will remain with #OlympiqueLyonnais until end of season before joining #CFC in summer @TheAthleticFC after @FabriceHawkins https://t.co/qwArE3ApNc
— David Ornstein (@David_Ornstein) January 27, 2023
Just to add as well, initial fee is €30m with add ons on top. This means #CFC have almost doubled their initial offer, which was necessary in order to persuade Lyon. New American owner John Textor was clear internally at Lyon that the fee must be higher and a loan-back needed.

Chelsea believe Gusto is the best Under-20 right-back in Europe and will prove well worth waiting for. Seen as a perfect fit for what they need

▫️ #AFC bid: £60m fixed fee, no add-ons.
⛔️ Brighton rejected £55m bid from Chelsea, they want to keep Moises.
▫️ Caicedo has new agents — he told Brighton he’d “love to take the opportunity”.

Caicedo will decide tomorrow — but he has been clear with Brighton: he wants to get the opportunity.
…Brighton still want to keep Moises. pic.twitter.com/NiWRFgR2KT
EXCL: Moises Caicedo didn’t turn up for training today — he wants leave immediately. Caicedo could also miss tomorrow’s game. ⚠️ #BHAFC

🚨 Understand Arsenal are expected to improve their bid, after £60m revealed yesterday. #AFC
🔵 Chelsea offered £55m — rejected too. #CFC pic.twitter.com/Xzt2f43ACI
🚨 I’m told Moises Caicedo was interested in Chelsea but was fine waiting until the summer. #CFC
— Charlie Haffenden (@JournoHaff) January 28, 2023
Arsenal’s bid has changed things, however. Thought of an immediate title race has given an urgent desire to leave. #AFC
Brighton won’t be bullied into anything, regardless. #BHAFC pic.twitter.com/laYAadn54B
🚨 Understand Brighton have also made it clear to Arsenal directly that Moises Caicedo is not for sale this window. https://t.co/wb47GPpcc0

Chelsea and Arsenal would have to go to £90m on Caicedohttps://t.co/UdmE4pjyp3
— Miguel Delaney (@MiguelDelaney) January 28, 2023
Moises Caicedo’s new agents are still active and doing everything in their power to get a January move. But there is frustration because Brighton are not engaging or providing them or suitors with a specific number. Brighton have also told #AFC directly the player isn’t for sale. pic.twitter.com/PfH7PYBIFv
— Ben Jacobs (@JacobsBen) January 28, 2023
It’s clear Brighton don’t want (or plan) to sell. Their position is consistent and bullish. But an astronomical offer could yet be tabled by Arsenal or Chelsea. There is a lot of tension. Brighton are sticking to their stance, but Caicedo’s new agents are not done trying yet.
— Ben Jacobs (@JacobsBen) January 28, 2023
One thing to add on this. There is a likelihood Caicedo’s value come summer will be lower not higher (or even ‘protected’). This is due to other midfielders on market then, two club bids now and (depending on what happens next) a likely inflated price. https://t.co/WD88hXC1Jm
— Ben Jacobs (@JacobsBen) January 28, 2023
A few asking specifically on Chelsea, too. They haven’t yet responded to Arsenal’s last move or reacted to Caicedo’s statement. But another bid can’t be ruled out. They’ll be active right up until window closes. #CFC and #AFC know it’s tricky but Caicedo’s agents still active.
