Enzo eyes strong end to the season
26 APR 2023
Enzo Fernandez duly admits it has been tough for the Chelsea squad to come to terms with being eliminated from this season’s Champions League, however he and his team-mates are wanting to react positively and immediately, starting tonight against Brentford.
The Blues welcome the Bees to Stamford Bridge looking for a first league win in six matches, although the visitors themselves have not won any of their last six contests.
Enzo has started every single game since arriving in January, a run of 15 matches now, and has been in full training this week as we go in search of our first win under caretaker manager Frank Lampard.
In the build-up, the Argentinian has been discussing tonight’s all-London clash with Brentford, and the squad’s main goals from now until the end of the campaign.
‘It is a very important game and a key occasion. We have had to suffer the disappointment of being knocked out of the Champions League, which was a tough blow for us, but it is now back to work and doing our job out on the field,’ Enzo admitted.
‘It is very important that we finish well in the Premier League and we have a great opportunity to start that tonight.’
Chelsea still have 21 Premier League points to play for, with three of our seven remaining matches coming at the Bridge. Enzo believes the whole club, including both the fans and players, must be in unison if we are to put a run together over the course of the next month.
‘Now, it is all about showing what we have got in terms of adversity. It has been a tough time for us recently, and it is all about sticking together as a group, team and club,’ the 22-year-old stated.
‘These tough periods test you as a player, it is all about being strong, and if we can do all of those things, it is about finishing as high as we possibly can in the league table come the end of the season.’
