Speaking for the first time as Chelsea interim head coach, Bruno Saltor confirmed no fresh injury concerns for the Blues ahead of our Premier League meeting with Liverpool.
We were without Raheem Sterling and Wesley Fofana for the loss to Aston Villa, with the suggestion before that game they could be back to face Liverpool tomorrow. Otherwise, it’s as you were on the availability front with the final training session still to come on Monday afternoon.
‘It’s the same news as last week,’ reported Bruno, who was also asked if he was going to mix things up in his first game in charge.
‘I don’t have to give any clues to Liverpool! I thought we dominated the game against Villa but we lost it with a few mistakes. Overall it was a good performance and we had a lot of chances, and we are going to try to keep as close as we can.’
Bruno admitted it had been a whirlwind 24 hours following Graham Potter’s departure and his own appointment on an interim basis, and as well as offering support to the outgoing head coach, the Spaniard spoke about what he wanted to see from his side against Liverpool.
‘It’s an opportunity for the players. We are representing Chelsea, a club with an amazing history, and for me it’s about winning and dominating. All we can do is prepare for the game. Preparation helps a lot with performance, so that’s what the players need to focus on.
‘I haven’t seen the players yet. We have an afternoon session planned. I am going to speak to them. All of us are responsible. We have to stay positive and focus on tomorrow’s game, and see energy from them.’

In addition to Thiago Silva and Cesar Azpilicueta, Armando Broja remains out of action as he continues his rehabilitation following a serious injury suffered in November.
For Liverpool, Jurgen Klopp will be without Luis Diaz because of a longstanding knee injury. Thiago Alcantara is also unavailable with a hip problem, while midfielders Naby Keita and Stefan Bajcetic are also out.

Bruno focused on huge challenge ahead

Chelsea interim head coach Bruno Saltor has said he will take things ‘one day at a time’ as he prepares to the lead the Blues following the dismissal of Graham Potter last night.

The Spaniard takes temporary charge of the side for the foreseeable future, with his first game arriving tomorrow evening when Liverpool visit Stamford Bridge.

Bruno has said there isn’t a timeframe on how long he will be leading the side for but stated he is happy to take things ‘day by day’ as he puts his stamp on training and matches, while also wishing the departing Potter and his assistant Billy Reid well at his first pre-match press conference.

Bruno was also quizzed by the gathered media at Cobham as to whether he’d be interested in taking the job on a full-time basis, however the Spaniard was quick to play down anything long-term and insists today’s training session and tomorrow’s clash with Liverpool is his only focus.

As he prepares to pick a Chelsea side for the first time, interim head coach Bruno Saltor recognises the responsibility that has come his way but whichever players he selects, he expects a committed performance against Liverpool today.
The Spaniard, who was an assistant under Graham Potter before being asked to take charge of coaching the team this week, admits he did not sleep greatly with so much to think about so soon after the news late on Sunday, but with the benefit of another night’s rest since then, he is thinking clearly about the task ahead.
‘It is not my decision, it is the club’s decision and the club has asked me to step up and be professional and that is what I am doing,’ Bruno says.
‘I feel good, it is my duty and it is a duty of responsibility. I am in a really important club and I am going to try my best.
‘All of us, we know the situation here and it is what it is and we need to focus on this game, on Liverpool, and thinking about the past and what has happened before is not going to help me now.’
It, of course, remains to be seen how the game pans out tonight at Stamford Bridge but the interim head coach does not believe any sort of improvement in the Chelsea display would be a reflection on what has gone on before.
‘The job of the players is to perform well and play their best in every single training session and every single game,’ he says. ‘Today they are going to try their best and that is what we are expecting.’
When it comes to his own personal ambition at this time, Bruno’s message is simple.
‘My ambition is to improve every day and try to show who I am and to be myself, and that is what I am going to try to do in the next few days.’

．Your reaction to a crazy 24 hours and Graham Potter's departure and have you spoken to Graham?
I just spoke to Graham five minutes ago and he sent his regards to all of you. Obviously it's been a difficult 24 hours for all of us, for the staff, for the families and now we just have to deal with the situation.
．On the statement Chelsea released, it said Graham would collaborate to facilitate a smooth transition, what does that mean?
It probably means that I'm here right now. Just trying to keep the process going and we just try to go along the best we can and I think Graham did an amazing job. Football is a really complex business and we have to keep going.
．What do you expect players reaction to be?
They will be sad as well because they know the level of human being that Graham is. They will take responsibility as they have done since day one. I just expect them to be next to us and supportive.
．How have last 24 hours been for you and family?
I can't. I can't do it. It has been really difficult, really difficult at every single level, especially emotional. Obviously you have to deal with the press conference, have to deal with the players and it is hard. The relationship with Graham and Billy, it is difficult to deal with that and how it affects the families. As I said a really difficult 12 hours (24).
．What do you make of Jurgen Klopp?
Obviously pure admiration towards Jurgen. I cannot say anything that everyone doesn't know. Obviously they are going through a tough season as well but they've got top players and we're expecting a really aggressive game, high intensity and we need to be ready.
