Tambling, Chelsea’s previous record goalscorer with 202 goals before Frank Lampard surpassed that total with 211, met with Lampard again as they discussed their individual scoring records for the Blues.
Tambling along with his wife, son and grandson were then granted special access watching the squad being put through their paces ahead of tomorrow’s fixture versus Brentford.
Tambling’s grandson, Frankie (named after Lampard), was shocked to meet all his heroes who signed a shirt for the six-year-old.
Frankie was then joined by Joao Felix and Christian Pulisic for a friendly kickabout where Frankie showed glimpses of inheriting his grandad’s goalscoring skills.
The players also spoke to Tambling who gave an insight into his illustrious career.
The 81-year-old said: ‘It’s been an amazing day, my first time visiting Cobham. It’s an unbelievable set-up and a lot different to where we used to train.
‘I loved every minute of it, seeing Frank, watching the players train and then speaking to them afterwards. It was brilliant to see the players playing with Frankie, it really does put a smile on my face seeing young people enjoying football.’
